Are You Smarter...

Than a Fifth Grader???

One of the fun {and stressful} things about being a fifth grader is you get to learn your States and Capitals.

Makayla studied and studied and worried so much about her test. She was so excited to find out that she got 100% and with that got a really cool binder from her teacher.

So, how well do you know them? Without scrolling down to see Makayla's answers just see if you can name each state and capital. (I myself, am a bit rusty!)

How did it go? Ready to see if you were right?
Click on the pic below to pull it up bigger so you can see.
Her spelling is pretty cute...good thing they didn't grade on that!

So, tell me...
are you smarter than a FIFTH GRADER???
(or AS smart in this case)

Lucky

Sometimes in life we are given trials and tribulations. Situations are placed before us that we have no control over and it can be hard to deal with at times. It's even harder when some situations are brought on because of other people's choices and you see how their choices not only affect themselves but SO many people around them including yourself.

Well, life has been that way for me lately with so many different situations and although I am trying to positive and say, "there is nothing I can do, it's not my problem" it still brings me down. I feel discouraged and heartbroken that things
sometimes have to be the way they are, especially when it was no fault of my own. I can only do so much and I have tried and done my best to be a good person, right my wrongs, and be there for those who are struggling. Still it is easier said than done to "not worry" about certain things going on around me.

However, through the trials are blessings. The greatest blessings being my husband and children. I feel incredibly lucky to have scored that great guy I did and to have such beautiful children together. I have not been able to spend very
much time with him lately due to the busy football season and although I love him coaching, it has its rough times too. I feel like a single mom pretty much the whole time and I miss my alone time with him.

So, it made my heart smile when the doorbell rang the other day and on my doorstep was a man holding the most beautiful arrangement of roses and lilies. And it made me cry when I read the beautiful note telling me how much I mean to one incredible guy, who in turn, means so much to me! It is so nice to be reminded of not only how much Chet loves me but how much my Heavenly Father loves me also. He reminds me each day through every heart melting smile my baby gives me, through all the hugs and kisses and "I love you so much mommy" 's. And with the great friends that call me and spend hours on the phone with me talking about everything and even nothing at all.

When the storm comes, it is these blessings of the Gospel, family and great friends that make it possible for me to dance in the rain!

Week in Review

Lots of this....
Chet's team is doing very well so far. They lost one game to Viewmont in four overtimes. It has started off a little rough with some injuries and a fight but the team is looking good...Kylee thinks so too :) Never before has she been so interested in Chet's team as she is this year! LOTS of cute boys...

{FUN RUN}

Chet will tell you that anytime you put the words "fun" and "run" together in the same sentence, someone is trying to sell you a load of you know what!

This year's school "Fun Run" was held at the new track and field at the High School. The kids thought it was so fun to run on the new track.

Hunter got to participate for the first time ever as a Kindergartner . I am so proud of him...he didn't stop running the entire 1/2 mile! He said afterward that his heart was hurting. What a trooper!

{7 months}

I am not very happy about this one. Another month has gone by as quickly as the last and my baby is growing up way too fast!

He is still gaining and getting heavier and heavier. My back and shoulder is so out of whack from holding him! He out grew his cradle and I finally moved him out of our room :( It has been sad but good at the same time.
He is just the cutest thing. He is getting so much personality! He is sitting up pretty good and loves to make funny noises by sucking in. He loves to blow raspberries...especially with a mouth full of baby food! (spraying it EVERYWHERE!) Then he'll giggle as if he knows how funny it is. He loves patting your face and grabs for everything in sight. Cash also sucks on his toes, which I think is so dang cute...oh, to be that flexible!
He is also learning to get where he wants. If he sees something he wants he arches his head back, eying the object, and pushes with his feet until he scoots enough that he can reach it...he'll never get any hair that way!
He is such a sweet and happy baby...we just love to "num" on those cheeks...num, num, num!

"Treasure Grumpy Feet"

By the title of this post I am not trying to say you have to be grateful for sore feet...

I have just been a huge slacker in posting the words for the PWG for the last 3 weeks. (Been a bit crazy here!)

Anyway, here are the words and the corresponding pics...

{GRUMPY}
Cash looks like he's ready to kill someone!

Last week's word,
{FEET}

This weeks word,
{TREASURE}

This treasure is full of "Cash" and it's the best kind there is!

Here are my other treasures...there is nothing that means more to me on this earth!

I am a very rich woman indeed! :)

Sweet September Birthday

My beautiful and sweet Makayla turned another year older. I really can't believe that it is September already. It honestly feels like we just barely celebrated September birthdays and here we are again!

Makayla turned 11 years old on Sunday and had a great day. She got everything she wanted which included, "Littlest Pet Shops", "Webkinz", clothes from her favorite stores, earrings, an mp3 player and a new
canopy for her bed.

Since her birthday fell on a Sunday we enjoyed lunch yesterday at Red Lobster. Endless shrimp baby!

Makayla is my sweet little daughter. From the moment they placed her into my arms I could just feel her sweet spirit. Now, every newborn has a sweet spirit but
some just "radiate" that spirit and contentment and it lasts their whole life long. She is always smiling, wanting to make you happy and has many, many friends. When she was little she had the cutest speech! You couldn't understand her most of the time and she ended up having to go to speech therapy, which I was kind of sad about correcting. We love her SO much and I am so glad she came to me...instead of her Aunt (no offense Shareen!)...it is such a privilege and honor to be her mother!

Here is a little tribute to my little Kayla Sue...how I wish I could keep you little forever!

The reason I say I'm glad Makayla came to me instead of her Aunt is because she also shares a birthday with her Aunt Shareen and they are SO alike in many ways. We always joke that Makayla was born into the wrong family. I ran into somebody at the school who knew Shareen but had no idea we were related. When she saw that Makayla was my daughter she asked me what my last name was and if there was any relation to Shareen, then she said she knew Shareen and when she saw Makayla she thought she HAD to be Shareen's daughter b/c she looked so much like her, but then she couldn't remember if Shareen had one that young..haha.

So anyway, Happy Birthday to Shareen and other September birthdays...

I hope you all have a wonderful September birthday!
